Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are poised for a significant boost ahead of their high-profile clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Chepauk, with Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana set to rejoin the squad. Having secured a No-Objection Certificate from Sri Lanka Cricket, Pathirana is now eligible to participate in IPL 2026 after recovering from a calf injury sustained during the T20 World Cup. The fast bowler, who missed the opening four matches of the season, could be available for immediate selection.

Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana has been cleared by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after successfully passing his mandatory fitness assessment, paving the way for his return to competitive action in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The pacer has also been granted a no-objection certificate, allowing him to travel to India and join Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Pathirana is expected to link up with the franchise ahead of their upcoming fixture against Gujarat Titans on April 17.
